I was told in the AZ heat a helemt will hold its safety standard for up to 3 years.

Sound right, I have had mine for 4 should I get a new helmet?

It'll last until you crash it hard enough.

  • ..or you're tired of it.

  • I managed to crack my last helmet in two places but it saved
my noggin. It was ~10 years old from when I dabbled in rollerblading.

My first one lasted about 2 years... but that was because I crashed hard going down the backside of Gates Pass in Tucson.

Anyway.... as long as your helmet feels solid and is not cracked up it is fine. It is the blunt force that wrecks it. Unless of course you like to leave it out in the sun all day when you aren't riding.

By the way Trevor... are you going up to Silverman this year?

I would like to see pictures of this...not the helmet but you all decked out in your rollerblading gear.

I'm not sure I still have my rollerblading thong.

    Hey Andrew,

I am doing Nathens & IMAZ, 1/4 of the way through the training plan.

    Did you do Vineman?

I did do Vineman. Finally had nice weather at a IM. 82 degrees... finished in 12:24. Would have been better but my run suffered some due to lack of running in the heat. Silverman will be better! I had a monkey on my back from last year and Vineman this year has removed that. (IMAZ drop during the run in April and blowing up at mile 80 during Vineman and suffering to finish and the brake rubbing at Silverman last year didn't make me feel better)

I'll see you at the races then. I won't be doing either but will be around at each.
