Their web site has results from 2007, 2008, and 2009 so I'm guessing someone has done the race.

You may have better luck posting this in the Virginia forum, since that's where the race is (no, I've never done it - just heard of it).

Smith Mountain hosts a Sprint and Oly.  I will assume you are talking about the sprint.

The event is run by setupevents.com

In my opinion they put on a good race, I could go for a little better t-shirt design though.

The course, is a bit hilly, but nothing that will seriously intimidate (the oly in Sept has a couple of steeper and longer climbs, the run has one in particular that I am not at all fond of)

Feel free to email if you have specific questions.

Never done the race but I've done other setup events races and they were well run...and Smith Mountain Lake is beautiful so seems like a winner (if only I was closer or had a free place to stay down there....)!!

I did the sprint this year (it was my first).  The swim was nice (a bit short) and the bike had rolling hills.  The run was nice, though it started up a gentle incline for the first mile (that means down hill for the last mile Wink).  It is on my do-again list, but I do wish thew shirt design was better.
