Has anyone got any good tips for getting chain oil / general bike dirt stains out of clothes? Specifically softshell tops?

Yep, seems after one day of commuting I've got chain oil / grease / crud on the sleeve of my nice new Gore jacket if nothing else that's going to be a good reason to clean the bike from now onwards!!

I was going to recommend something like Simple Green or CitriSolve, but I have no idea how that would react with GoreTex...

that's what I was thinking too.

The only thing I could come up with was washing up liquid as a pre-wash kinda thing. Hopefully it should be ok as it's on the arm not the body but ......

I've always had good luck with dish soap like Dawn. I don't think it would affect the fabric at all, but I'm not positive.

Dawn is what they use to wash oil off of wildlife when there is an oil spill.  It should be OK for your jacket.

Cheers for the tips, guys.

I gave it a go with washingup liquid (some orgainc made of sunshine and hugs stuff) and a damp sponge. Seems to have worked but will have to wait until it dries properly now.

Even worse though ........... this means I've got to clean my bike!!!

Cleaning of the bike is always necessary. Plus, Lucy always shows her appreciation after a good bath before a race. She's never let me down...knock on wood.

Also if it needs more, mix a bit of the dish soap in HOT water and soak it for a bit.
