I was at the gym at DePaul in Chicago one day and they were playing 70's soft rock. Not a very good choice if you want to get motivated for one more rep or spin till you puke. One girl had enough and asked them to change the music. I can't recall if they did or not. I like your description "sticky sweet". I try to avoid any of the so-called pop music today. Too over produced, not enough substance.

well I have to agree on the stick sweet pop, especialy Timberlake and Janet Jackson. Those two have caused enough sensorship problems on the radio that I my have to start listening to Lawrence Welk to be entertained on live radio.   Seriously anything that is not Barney or Wiggles works lately

listening to just angry music, nothing sweet or kind....I ran across an old, old favorite the other day, LLCoolJ's "Mama said knock you out".

I have to admit that I don't like a lot of this "organic x" music, its just too goofy. I gotta have a beat and some emotion to keep those feet pumping.

I don't listen to the little voice that says "it's okay to stop now, 3 miles is far enough to run..."

If you mean music, I *do* listen to just about everything. Miles Davis just doesn't work for me when I'm training though. When I'm working out, I like more rock / faster beats. Anything slow or mellow doesn't work for me as good as harder/faster stuff.

The slow/mellow is great for post-workout decompression though. ( And for entertaining guests :P )

funny - i go to the gym at depaul, and they often do have awful music. the most offensive i can remember was a substitute kickboxing instructor who had a terrible tape with a couple of beatles songs mixed into crappy dance music followed by the requisite brittney. gag.

I'm absolutely sick of my spinning instructor playing techno music. I never can seem to keep a good cadence going

But when she pops in some 70's disco or a little Billy Idol... it pumps me up like nothing else
