ESPN's 30 for 30 is always really good.

I'm watching the one about Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis.

I didn't realize that Carl popped for banned substances but they gave him an exemption.

Ben Johnson is to this day pretty defiant as he talks about those days.

The other episode that stands out in my mind was the one about how professional athletes go broke. Sean Salisbury mentioned in that one writing a check for $102,000 for one credit card for one month. And the explanation of how 50% of professional football players live paycheck to paycheck and most don't realize that they only get paid during the season.

I saw the one on players being Broke and yeah, it was wild and sad that so many people blow through their money!

I wanted to see the one on Bo Jackson, but missed it.

The first season had some really good ones. Who killed the USFL, the Baltimore Colts band and Pony Express are really good. The one about the guy who ran across Canada is impressive.

It's a record all for my DVR.

My favorite So far is "Broke" hearing the stories straight from the source was very impactful and should be a requirement for any new player drafted to the NFL. I also really like the "The U" because I loved watching the Hurricanes during their run in the Nineties and early 2000's and their impact on the NFL today, which is unbelievable.

It’s a great series. I’ve seen most of them. My favorites were the recent one about Benji, the Chicago prep basketball star who was murdered, and the one called “The Two Escobars”, about professional soccer in Colombia in the days of Pablo Escobar.

The recent one about Bo Jackson was good too. I had forgotten what a phenomenon he was. He could easily have been a hall-of-famer in the NFL and MLB if not for his freak injury. Remember when he struck out and snapped his bat over his knee like it was a twig?

As much as I enjoy the ones that follow an event that I remember really well, like 4 Days in October, about the Red Sox/Yankees series from 2004 or “Miller Time” about the great Knicks/Pacers rivalries, my favorites are the ones about stories that I either didn’t know about or wasn’t really following at the time, like the one about Gretzky leaving Edmonton for LA or “The Ghosts of Mississippi”, about the Ole Miss football team and the violent controversy surrounding the civil rights movement and integration.

That was fantastic too. I learned a lot about the integration struggles which I never really knew the details of; only that it had happened and been rough.
