Subject: Bad Dreams....

I have this recurring nightmare, and was wondering if it's common to triathletes or it's just me. It usually goes something like this: it's the morning of a big race. I show up, start going through my routine, and then realize that I've forgotten some important piece of equipment. Usually it's goggles, although it's also been my bike. I start freaking out, run all over the place trying to find or replace it, and while I'm in some sports-equipment store or running back to the car, I miss the start of my race.

Not too hard to interpret this one...I'm generally scatter-brained and don't plan ahead all that well. Just wondering if others have similar subconscious freakouts?

I have had this same dream.. at least the same concept... It is why I check that I have everything like 10 times before bed then all night long I run through the list in my head.

Oh yeah.  For some reason, in my version, I'm late as well, but the race lets me start anyway.  You're not alone!  Crazy stuff.

I have the exact same dream...but it's about hockey.  I get to the rink and find out I'm missing a skate or a glove or my helmet.  I always miss the game.  Frown

Once I dreamed that the RD was taking apart my bike few minutes before race start leaving me unable to race!

I've had dreams following a similar conceptual line. I think it's common for anyone who tries to be prepared, who exerts a level of diligence in readiness of whatever the context is.

Yep, sort of. I was late then my bike just started to fall apart as I started to race. Other athletes kept trying to give me parts and pieces as they came through transition but something else would always fall apart.

The dream is always the same. Instead of going home, I go to the neighbors'. I ring, but nobody answers. The door is open, so I go inside. I'm looking around for the people, but nobody seems to be there. And then I hear the shower running, so I go upstairs to see what's what. Then I see her; this... girl, this incredible girl. I mean, what she's doing there I don't know, because she doesn't live there... but it's a dream, so I go with it. "Who's there?" she says. "Joel," I say. "What are you doing here?" "I don't know what I'm doing here; what are *you* doing here?" "I'm taking a shower," she says. Then I give her: "You want me to go?" "No," she says; "I want you to wash my back." So now, I'm gettin' enthusiastic about this dream. So I go to her, but she's hard to find through all the steam and stuff; I keep losing her. Finally I get to the door... and I... find myself in a room full of kids taking their college boards. I'm over three hours late; I've got two minutes to take the whole test. I've... just made a terrible mistake. I'll never get to college. My life is ruined.
