Subject: Zone 2 training and the "Adult Onset Runner" - 5k PR todayI started running at the age of 44, 20 months ago. I've lost around 25 pounds and have been holding steady on my weight for over 6 months now.
Lately, I've been preparing for my first ever half-marathon that is coming up next Sunday. I still can't believe I'm actually doing a half marathon!!! GAAA!!! But, I've been sticking to my training plan, and I ran 11 miles Wednesday, so I think I'll be ok. Last Saturday was my first Sprint tri of the season, and I was 7:00 faster then the same event last year. Nice.
I've been doing all of my running in or maybe just above Zone 2, and many here on BT have said that my 5k time would likely be better this season. Well, they were right! This morning I had my first race of the season, and I finished in a new PR of 25:29, which is 1:07 faster than last year's PR!!!
