Subject: share novel ideas for carrying/storing workouts

I recently discovered (thanks to someone at my Y sharing her idea) that zippered freezer bags make the perfect holder for swim workouts. They are perfect size, take no work to set up (as would laminating), and they protect the workouts from errant splashing.

I thought about printing out and possibly laminating some index sized cards for trainer and running interval workouts.  I know that the "workouts in a binder" are available, but I was wondering if anyone has any other creative DIY ideas for organizing, holding, or storing workouts of any sort.

Write your swim workout in permanent marker on your arm. It won't wash off, and everyone you see for the next day will be impressed with your awesome swim session.

I'm only half kidding...I kind of think it's a cool idea!

Wife and I have been doing the zip loc bags for the pool.  It works but I feel cheap... ha!  I'd think there must be other ways, but this seems easiest.  My workout changes so often for my training plan, that its not worth laminating anything.  I did see someone that must have been on a good long term plan and he had laminated sheets (looked store bought) for his swimming plan.

I always wonder if a whiteboard/grease pencil concept would be just as good.

I was going to mention the ZipLock baggie thing when I saw the title of this thread, but it looks like you've got that under control.

For running workouts that I will have a hard time remembering, or when I want to run at specific paces, I set up a little "pace band" using Excel.  Just set the column width to 1", and outline the first three columns in black.  Fill in the middle column only with your workout (how long you can make it depends on your wrist width).  Print it out, cut out the outlined part, fold around the middle column, and tape it around your wrist.  I'll add tape on the whole thing if it's going to be a sweaty kind of day.  Come to think of it, this would probably work great if you wanted to laminate these and then add some sort of paper fastener to keep the band together.  Like this thing: http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay?prodCatType=0&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&productId=18498&cmArea=SEARCH

Until I got slack, I was carrying a diver's board/pencil with me to the pool. Easy to keep up with my workouts/intervals that way. I think I spent about $8 or so for the board at a diver's supply store.

For swim workouts I write them out on a index card, or piece of paper, splash a little water on them and stick them to a kickboard. Then just toss the paper/card after the workout. Use a ball point vs. a felt marker and the ink shouldn't run.

For bike intervals I write them out on a piece of white tape and stick it on my bike stem or aero bars.

I don't do any run workouts that are complicated enough to need a reminder.

I use plastic sheet protectors for my swim workouts.  They are sealed on all but the top and I tape that shut.   Looks a little neater than ziploc and fits the paper perfectly.

Bike workouts you could tape an index card to your top bar or handlebars.  Trim it so it doesn't flap in the  breeze.  Run workout,- just tuck an index card  or folded paperin the back of your shorts or your pocket if you have one.  I guess you could get one of those quarterback armbands if you really can't remember your workout.

P.S.  a few strips of packing tape make great redneck laminate for index cards.

Write them down on an index card, and take clear packing tape and put it on both sides then trim it off.

It is ceap and works for me!
