Cat - You don't need to make a spreadsheet. I have one for you. It's based on YOUR spreadsheet for the October challenge. It's got all this team's members and their goals on it.

And yes, there are Aussies, Apples and newbies on this team.

If anyone wants to see where their former teammates ended up, the roster is available here:
http://bt-challenge.tripod.com/Teams.htm

(You sure didn't waste time putting this new thread up. I figured you might want to wait until after the October Challenge was over. It's going to be one big mess of threads tangled over another. LOL)

Nothing like a typo to start your team thread. LOL!

Hey everyone.  Very excited to meet all my new teammates (and psyched there are quite a few Apples since I know we're good at finishing our goals!).  Very cool to have 2 Aussies on the team...I'm always up for trying to figure out some good Strine sayings (my ex is Australian so I've got some down...and I won't hold one completely disfunctional person against the rest of you fine people).

As for me...my real name is Kelley...live in Maryland.  I'm a web developer by profession and am a contractor for the Air Force.  For fun, I volunteer as an EMT (hence the user name).  I just love to drive my ambulance...lots of fun and always gives me some good stories too....

As for triathlon I'm a super newbie (planning on my first sprint in either July or August)....I'm using tris to get in shape and lose lots of weight.  My ultimate ultimate goal is to get into adventure racing, but figure I'll likely love triathlon too alot and will probably end up doing both.  I've been working out for about 6 weeks now...primarily walking although I've started throwing some running in (up to a whopping 2 minutes...yeah I'm horribly out of shape!).  I'm going to add swimming this month (gotta join a gym this week) and that is part of my goal.  I also love lifting (I really need to get some upper body strength to help out on the ambulance...way too many people around here weigh 300+ pounds and ALWAYS live on the 3rd floor or above so lots of lifting and carrying) so will be doing a few hours of that too.  I'll probably throw in some stationary bike but didn't put that in my goal because I didn't want to overdo it (as the Apples will attest, I'm a tad accident prone so gotta watch the overdoing bit)...

And if you haven't guessed...I love ellipses and parentheses.  It's just how my slightly ADD mind works.

I'm really excited about yet another challenge...October's really helped keep me going when I was having some serious down days.

As for names...um...Lucky 7 is all I can think of...it's just way too early in the morning to be creative.  If I think of something later I'll post it.

-Kelley

Hi everyone!

I'll have a team spreadsheet available for each team - hopefully sometime tonight.

That way, you'll be able to see what everyone's goals are, and you can chart your progress during the month.

If you don't remember your goals, you can see them here. (The last 10 or so people who entered aren't on there yet, but I'll update it tonight.)

YAY! i'm so excited about the november challenge!! dee-you're a rockstar for putting it together!

october challenge was the best thing ever! cat-you're awesome for puting THAT together! seriously, after my race in september, i probably would have just slid down that hill of laziness again, as it was, i got in to a side competition with jason, and then later steve, and ended up way exceeding my own expectations. up till october first the most miles i had acrewed in a month was around 28. in october (not counting today's run, which is coming up) my total was 63! so-run challenge=good thing.

anyway, my goals for november:run 75 miles bike 3 hours and lose 10 pounds. it's actually the 10 pounds i'm most worried about. my youngest (10 monhts old) is still nursing, and the last 10 is ALMOST impossible to lose while still nursing, but i think i can do it, if i'm hardcore.

as far as creative names, cat-you said scary, intimidating, so i'm assuming "turkey trotters" or "pumpkin pie eaters" is out?? how about "mad for mashed potatoes"? ok, i'm totally kidding. anyway hooray for the new challenge, hooray for the team, hooray for the goals, and hooray to dee for spending (way to much) time on it.

HI all,
Steve here. Did I really say I was gona do all that, with the holidays and everything going on. Oh well. Anyway you have my goals on that spreadsheet:

Run 65
Bike 225
Weights 5 hours
Weight loss 4 pounds with weigh in right after Thanksgiving, ouche. (149 or bust)

I am total newb here off the couch oh 10 ish weeks ago and down 25-30 pounds (depending on the day). I hope to get my first sprint tri under my belt in December. Ya that was a good choice on my part, weigh in after thanksgiving and tri in December, oh well. I am sure they will have the chainsaws out to cut a nice clean path in the ice. Anyway happy to meet everyone. I get to go out of town on Friday and Sat for a training with a final exam this week, and daylight savings time is gona kill my afterwork workouts, so my schedule is goning to start out all screwed up. Alright back to work now.

We can't let this happen-- it's not even Nov 1 and our team's thread has dropped all the way to the bottom of the page...

Anyhow here's me... My name's Dave and I'm a high school teacher in Cincinnati. I have been on BT a while, but don't post all that much. This is my first challenge.

And hey, I've been to Australia, so, good fit, right? I own Blundstones!

I got on a swimming kick almost 2 years ago, and added running so I wouldn't get to bored with all the laps in the pool. One morning while running (on my 37th birthday) I got the idea to look into triathlons, and after a short surf, I found BT.

I did three sprints this summer, and love it. I am still learning a lot and of course have ample room for improvement. The bike is by far my weakness. I had a 20 year old crappy bike, which I have since gotten rid of, and not replaced.

My biggest limiters are time and energy. I have three small kids and very busy days/evenings. I usually work out from 5:30 - 6:00 AM-- so I can arrive at school at 6:30. Afternoons and evenings are a blur of after-school, dinner, baths, bedtime and chaos with the kids.

Thus, my goals reflect my desire to just get back on a strict regiment. I was really good through the spring, but the summer schedule and fall have thrown me off. I have allowed myself to skip a few planned workouts.

I joined the challenge cause it looks like fun (I lurked through the October running challenge) and to hopefully feel the pressure to keep on track. I am good at logging my workouts, but am not a strong blogger, but I will try to keep my progress updated.

Now I am going to try to add you all to my log page so I can check in with you throughout the month.

Long post, I know. Sorry.

hmmm an introduction...

I'm Cat, originally from New Zealand but Ive been in Australia for over 4 years, I'm 25 and work in Sales Research and Business Development at a media company here in Australia.

I joined BT in 2005 and since then have been battling some health (Ulceratvie Colitis -chronic so it just comes and goes) and injury (two sprained ankles in the past 12 monthsand currently have runners knee and plantar fascilitis)

I spend 2006 on high doses of steroids, gained a lot of weight but being on BT kept me active. That and the fact Im an "information vacum cleaner" so have read everything I could get my hands on about training and racing (you should see my bookshelf) as well as picking the brains of a huge group of amazing BTers! I love to talk training and racing, definatley have learnt through trial and error plus some amazing minds....

Im a BIG believer in mental strength and staying positvie no matter what happens. In addition to my swim, bike and PT goals for this challenge I am also still trying to use the weight I gained while on steroids... (so i need to learn more self control and a lot less emotional eating!)

I also LOVE cycling, especially the Tour De France and am hoping this challenge will see me gain back my cycling fitness!

Really happy to meet everyone I think we are going to have a GREAT team... will have a proper think today about some potential names

Cat

DTraub - 2007-11-01 4:51 AM And hey, I've been to Australia, so, good fit, right? I own Blundstones! .

HA HA! ^_^ That's the spirit!

It's DAY 1 of the challenge here in Oz, Waiting for Cat to log in.

I'm Maddy by the way. 24, Aussie born and bred, live in Brisbane in Sunny Queensland. By day I'm a mad scientist and by night I'm an Artist. Doing Mini-Sprint tris until I can get my endurance up for the swim and run. LOVE cycling. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.

2nd Tri of the season is on 2nd of December so this is IDEAL to help me complete my training before it. (This will be my 6th Tri)

Going to be absent from the logs and forums for a few days as BF and I are going on holidays. We're going up the sunshine coast to watch the NOOSA triathlon. I know MACCA probably won't be there since he's graduated to Ironman champion, but he's won Noosa two years ago! Emma Snowsill, Craig Walton, Brad Kahfelt! ALL THE BIG NAMES IN AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC DISTANCE TRIATHLON WILL BE THERE!!!

Robbie McEwen will be there as the Australian criterium champion competing in the Noosa Crit. I'm dying to see Lorian Graham back in peak form in the women's criterium.

I promise I'll post Piccies when I get back on Tuesday! This is going to be a HUGE event to watch and my goal is to compete in it next year.

I won't be slacking on holidays that's for sure. Plan is to get an ocean swim in. Run in the mornings and we're planning a 80km bike ride... In fact here's the route ! So when I get back I'll update the logs for previous days. I won't let you guys down!
