Holy smokes, I did it.
Dragged my ass out of bed on a Satuday morning to head to the Y to complete my first test "sprint tri"
By the end as I brought home the last quarter mile on the treadmill I couldn't help but grin like a giddy school girl realizing I had done it...if it feels this good stuck on a treadmill in an overheated gym on a stationary machine then gawdammit, i can't wait for race day!!!

Here are the results:

900 yard swim: 18:42
T1: 8:33 (we need to work on this. Never put on a sports bra when you're still damp. It got all rolled up around my upper chest and I got stuck in it for about 2 minutes as I cursed and swore trying to get it off and on the right way....The poor old ladies at the Y were a tad shocked...haha.)
16 mile bike: 44:58
T2 1:50
4 mile run: 42:21

I'll try this again in four weeks and see what kind of improvement I've made!

Hooody Hoooo!

WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on a great practice race!!!

I did this in December and will do it again near the end of this month. I know exactly what you mean about the grin nearing the end of the treadmill run!. What you may want to do next time is to wear your sports bra under your swim suit for the swim, then there it will be when you put on your shirt to continue. It will be wet, then damp, then will feel fine for the remaining time.

Great job!!!

Definitely will be more planning with the T1 strategy next time. Thanks for the tip!

I'm planning on buying a Trisuit at some point so I won't have to bother with this on race day.
At some point as I was tugging, pulling, swearing, cursing and getting my heart rate up over 190 trying to get the damn thing on I had to stop and laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation.
At the very least it makes for a great story at cocktail parties!!!

cracked up at your sports bra experience--as this is my regular predicament!!

I normally do the swim in tri shorts and sports bra, then add a second sports bra for.. uh-hmm.. comfort! At my first tri I actually had to ask for assistance!!

but i'm getting the hang of it! :-)

Just a suggestion instead of changing into a sports bra.  There are several brands of racing suits (i.e. Speedo, Desoto, etc.) that sell bikini suits separately.  I usually use a bra top from a racing suit so there is no need to change.  There is just about as much support from one of those as there is in a running bra.  Even if you get a tri suit, depending on your build you may need a little extra.  Believe me, I'm pretty small in that department but still wear one under my tri-top.

What a great idea. You have inspired me to practice this prior to an outdoor event.
Thanks,
Evelyn
