Pre-race routine:

We had to get up at 3am to catch a bus before 4am. Very early! Had a doubleshot and a bottle of water. At bus stop had a power bar. Usually don't eat morning of, but since had to get up so early decided to have something. Got to the staging area about 4:15 and about 5:00 started heading towards starting corrals. This was my first big race! Hit the port-o-lets a couple times and stood in corral for about 30 mins.
Event warmup:

No real warmup. So many people and not much room to run. We probably walked at least a mile, so felt ok.

Comments:

Run went pretty smooth. I did the walk 1 minute each mile. I've never been a race where you are always, and I mean always surrounded by a crowd. You couldn't really zone out because you had to watch your step. Around mile 10 I wanted to start upping the pace. I would feel like the pace is harder but stayed the same. At mile 12 I was tired of running :-) I was pretty tired. I walked an extra 15 seconds to talk to myself. I ran the last 1.1 miles and even half sprinted the last 100y or so! Crowds of people got me going at the end! Was nice to finish in upper half rather than lower quarter for a change. Our local races are mosthly fast people so I am always at the bottom :-)
What would you do differently?:

Figure out how not to have to pee in first mile :-) Go a little harder earlier. I had such a bad half mary in Nov I was a little conservative. I was close to spent at end, but could have pushed more.
Post race
Warm down:

Got my chip taken off, was given a cool Foil sheet to cover with and went to stand in line for picture and drinks.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mentally afraid to push too much early due to bad race in Nov. Still happy with beating my first goal of 2:30. Really wanted to average 11:00 pace, but happy anyways.

Event comments:

Great race. A couple places you had to wait 2miles for aid station that threw my time to take my Gu's off, but overall was plenty. Very fun race. Deena Castor (Oly Bronze medalist) spoke to use before the race which was cool.

Great job Cameron, you are becoming quite the pro at the 1/2 Mary.  Is this your 3rd?  Wow, I can't wait for my first one in May.  I am glad to see the Nov problems not surface in Disney.  I think that would be a very cool race, other than the early morning wake up call that to me would be more rough than the run I think.  Great job!!!!

Thanks Jim! YEs this was my 3rd. The Nov problems seem to be gone hopefully forever :-) You'll have to come down and run it sometime.
