Whichever one fits the best, doesn't hinder your stroke (doesn't restrict shoulders) is the way to go.

One may or may not be 'better' than the other, but brands fit differently. Like bikes.

Another vote for fit. Try them on if at all possible. Blue Seventy was a horrible fit for me, but Zoot worked like a charm, Orca was OK but not as good as the Zoot.

As a beginner you're not going to notice anything in the way of difference in bouyancy. They all do a good job, get the one that fits the best. Find somewhere to try them on.

Zoot makes an entry level suit called the Fuzion. It's about the same price as the entry level Blue Seventy and the entry level Orca called the Equipe. These guys (and others) all battle it out at the various price points. Bouyancy in all these suits will be the same. I'm pretty sure they are all made of Yamamoto 39 rubber which is made in a single factory in Japan (I think). Anyway, they are all pretty much made of the same stuff just different cuts and maybe a slight variation in some of the panel thicknesses.

For me, the length of Blue Seventy was great, almost went to my wrists and ankles, but everything else was weird. The Zoot is short in the arms and legs (OK) but fits great in the shoulders and chest and thighs. Very comfortable, never had a chaffing problem.

Thanks man, thats very helpful. I will be sure to see the fits in store, and hopefully get a swim in before i make my decision

I agree fit is key.

I did get a 2007 BlueSeventy Reaction suit - this was their entry level suit at the time and I have really liked it.

The key is a get a swimming-specific suit that fits your body. You don't have to spend $500 to get a good suit. I love my Zoot Fuzion. It seems to fit better, the more I wear it, or maybe I'm just getting more used to it. Anyway, I love that thing.
