Does anybody have any good recommendations for an Ortho/Podiatrist good with ankles?

I rolled my ankle last night while running. It isnt broken, but it is probably sprained real good.

My preference would be somewhere between Sandy Springs (work) and Cumming (home)

Worst case scenario, I have some orthos I know. I tried Dr Julien's office, but they are booked this week

My cousin is an ortho at Resurgens.  His name is Evander Fogle and I think he is at the St Joseph's location.  Here is a link to the Resurgens site - as you can see they have a LOT of locations and are a no-nonsense outfit.  I have gone to the Hembree Rd location twice (shoulder and knee) and got good advice both times and got good advice from my cousin about my foot here recently.

Just to present the opposite side, I had a very bad experience at the resurgeons in Conyers.   Not to say that resurgeons is a bad company, but I will never go there again.  My wife had a stress fracture on the 4th metatarsal.  I knew what it was before we even went to the MD.  The doctor xrayed her and didnt see any fractures, but said he thought it just wans't showing up.  Told her to take it easy and come back in 2 weeks.

We then got a bill for $30 for office visit (ok with me) and abotu $40 for xrays (again ok with me)

Two weeks later we went back and he again took xrays.  Once again we got $30 for office visit and $40 for xrays (both ok with me).  This time, he "sees" a fracture and gives her a boot.  Tells her to where it for 3 months and the foot will be fine.  Doesn't even schedule a follow up to make sure it is fine

Low and behold, we get a $600 bill in the mail for "fracture care."  I called and they explaiend to me that whenever they find a fracture they billl for "fracture care" for the simple fact that the MD has to diagnose and determine the best course of treatment.  No matter how much I protested or which office manager I went to, they would not back off and threatened to send it to collections if I did not pay it.

When the EOB (explanation of benefits) came from my insurance, the MD had billed the "fracture care" as surgery even though there was no surgery.  By now we had already paid the bill and the only thing we could do was protest on internet review sites and complain to the Better Business.

Dr. David Scott at Resurgens (I see him at the Alpharetta location) is a foot and ankle specialist and he "gets it" in terms of athletes.

I've never had a problem with Resurgens and have seen a few different specialists there.

For some additional information....

I have also used Resurgens (Hembree Road location) twice. I saw Dr. Jason Schneider when I broke my hand, and then Dr. Angelo DiFelice when I had my ACL replaced. Both were great, and their rehab facility is two doors down. More-or-less, a one stop shop for all things broken.

Kevin - I hope your ankle feels better!

They would have been my first choice, but one of them was off this week and they had no open slots all week
