Do you have to put it on in T1 or should it go in with T2 stuff?  My race packet came with a bib number but no number for the bike.  I'm ssuming I wouldn't have to wear it during the bike.

Thanks,
SHD

Depends on the race. I've had a few that required it on the bike. Most require it run only.

x2. Just read the rules on that specific race's Web site or ask the RD.

Yeah... I looked at the site and listened to their pre-race podcast and there was no mention of a rule anywhere.

I'll admit this is most likely silly..
but I'll put mine on before the swim,, roll up the number and tuck the belt into my tri shorts, so when I come out of the water or off the bike,, I just untuck it..

doesnt' save much time wise

Thanks for all the help...  I did find my RD's email.  I guess I'll go right to the source.

one RD around here requires it on the bike and run. all others i've seen are just on the run. USAT rules say you have to have it for the run at least, and its up to the RD if they want it on the bike too (i think, i'll have to check)

ETA: oops, maybe not. this is what the rules have to say:

"Race Numbers. Participants shall plainly display their race numbers at all times, and shall maintain the race number in an unaltered, unobstructed and readable state at the start and finish gates, in the transition areas, and on the course. Any violation of this Section shall result in a variable time penalty."

i guess that technically means you have to wear it in the swim too. who knows

Sorry for all the posts, but the RD just emailed me.  She says to just make sure it is on during the run route.

Thanks again,
SHD

"Race numbers" does not mean bib. It could mean bib, body markings, and/or bike numbers. At least that's what I look for as an official.
