I set up a goal to strength train 2x per week.  I did one session yesterday but it isn't reflected in my goal progress.

How do the goals get updated?

Ok, this is now reporting what it should be, the one strength session you recorded in your logs is showing in your detail graph for this week.

I'm not sure it's what you expect, though. Stay with me on this.
  • In your Training Log Settings, your weeks start on Monday.
  • The Strength Goal has a start date of May 9, which is a Sunday.
  • To be consistent with the other functionality in the logs, for Weekly Goals we start counting on the "Week Starts On" day for the week in which your defined Start Date falls. So for your Strength Sessions we start counting on Monday, May 3.
  • You recorded no strength sessions between Monday May 3 and Sunday May 9.
  • Your criteria is 14 weeks which means to reach a status of Met you would have to have 2 strength sessions between May 3 and May 9.
  • So: as it's defined, the Goal can never reach a status of Met.
What I recommend is that you delete the goal and create a new one for 13 weeks with a Start Date of May 10.

Well I tried to do as you say but even with no goals - the two still appear in my sidebar.  I can't seem to refresh it... odd.

Just wondering if you've had a chance to look at my page... When I click on settings > goals - there are none saved.

But when you click to my training log - there are two on the sidebar.  I can't seem to update or delete them.

Thought I'd just tack on here...

Had a strength training goal that was in my dashboard.  Everything seemed to be tracking correctly.  This morning I did nothing more than move it to the sidebar and it doesn't think I've done anything the past few weeks.

I had started it two weeks ago, so I had two weeks where I had met my goal...

Actually, it's displaying correctly.  Stay with me here:

By 6/28/2010 I will strength train at least 3 times per week for 7 consecutive weeks.
During the past 3 calendar weeks you strength trained at least 0 times per week.

Your goal is to strength train at least 3 times per week for 3 consecutive weeks. In other words, you're concerned with monitoring the minimum number of times per week you record a strength session over a period of three weeks.

Your week starts on Monday (today).
You haven't strength trained yet this week.

So, the status message is letting you know that the minimum number of times you've strength trained per week, over the past 3 weeks (including the current week) is zero.  We include the current week in this statement to serve as a motivator.

So go hit the weights.

Okay.  I get what you're saying.

When it was on my dashboard, with the pretty graph, it seemed more intuitive.

I know that the sidebar doesn't allow for much, but what about giving a history of sorts?

Like

05/10/2010: 3 training sessions
05/17/2010: 6 training sessions
05/24/2010: 0 training sessions

Average 3 sessions per week

Or maybe something as simple as:

Current status: 2 out of 3 weeks goal met

I don't know.  It makes sense now that you explain it, but on my own I think it might have taken me a long time to figure out what was going on without a little more information being displayed.  Of course, I'm a little slow on the uptake most days.

(And yes - I'll hit the weights.  Geez.  You're worse than my trainer.   )
