Subject: RE: best stuff to see/do in Death Valley It's been AGES since I was there, but if it is still open Scotty's Castle was fun to tour. Ubehebe Crater is up by there and was pretty amazing if you are into geology. One of my best memories is laying on top of a big flat water tank with friends (near our campground ) and looking up at the night sky. We could clearly see the Milky Way, and watched satellites go over, falling stars, etc. Really cool. We also hiked Mosaic Canyon - a neat canyon with really beautiful polished marble walls that had been totally smoothed by the water. Swimming at Stovepipe Wells was fun too, though it looks like Furnace Creek has a pool. We tent camped and at the time Stovepipe Wells would let you have a day swimming pass for $3 or so. I was on a college Biology/Geology camping trip over spring break (I said it was ages ago! ), which explains a lot of what we went to see. Have fun! The night sky is like nowhere else. |
