Subject: RE: FIRE JEFF BOWDEN!!!Man, this is just too painful. When I even let myself consider the thought that Bobby should retire, I think about Jo Paterno and all the chatter about him the last few years. Look at Penn State now. Jeff Bowden needs to be relieved of his duties as OC. I sure wish the University could find a way to navigate through this minefield, getting rid of Jeff while keeping Bobby and the rest of his staff on for a few years. We need to find another OC on the order of Mark Richt. I've seen the program go through quite a few ups and downs. The loss to the Gators this weekend ranks up there with the loss to Oklahoma back in the 2000 Orange Bowl. It was a very winnable game, but one where the coaches lost the contest for the players. Yes, there were some significant injuries for the O-line, but that doesn't excuse the inability of the coaching staff to adjust the game strategy to help Weatherford. You know, the person that needs to "strap them on" is Jeff. Instead of continually dragging his father's legacy down, he should make the hard decision and step down. Bobby will never fire his son. But, could you imagine what Bobby would do if he were in Jeff's position? Out of honor, he'd submit his resignation tomorrow. I'm not ready to call for Daddy's head, but I sure hope he see's the logic in finding another role for his son. That's probably the hardest thing he'll ever have to do in his coaching career, but I would imagine that both FSU and Jeff will be better of because of it. Worst of all, I'm worried about what this does to our recruiting prospects for the upcoming year. We've got a lot of holes to fill and we need a quarterback. God help the Seminoles. |
