I'm a huge hockey fan and this is disappointing to me.

Me too. It seems that it's a sport that just can't seem to get put of its own way.

It's ridiculous, millionaires fighting with billionaires over a few percent, and of course the fans have to pay! when th season does start the fans should stay away for a few games leave them with empty stadiums see how they like that.

I'm really annoyed.  We've paid for 70% of our season tickets, and our eldest works for an NHL team - as a low-paid intern, so it's really affecting her.

Not a fan of unions in professional sports.

I emailed my buddy who's a big hockey guy and said "what's up with this?"

His response was that "mutually assured destruction is supposed to prevent stupidity like this."

I figure at least they don't have far to fall, they're already at the bottom.

Best team the Rangers have had since 94. This sickens me.

very frustrated as well... carolina finally got 2 top 6 forwards and should be rolling two good top lines and a decent third.

it just seems simple to me to get a deal done but neither side wants to show weakness and be the first to say "hey a good deal means neither side gets exactly what they want... and WE know what the deal needs to be so lets get it done."

They hadn't even recovered since the last time they had a lockout.  Remember when hockey was on ESPN?  Now they finally got on Versus and were starting to move back to the mainstream and now this.  Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.  Hopefully this is not an extended lockout for the fans out there.  Hockey fans will always remain faithful, but how much can we take of this.

Canada checking in!!!

Honestly I feel bad for the concession workers, the ushers, etc who now sit around and do 25% of the work that they were expecting to do this winter.

The owners had the players in 94 where they wanted them. They should have pounded them down last time. Why settle on 57-43 split last time?? Seems like Joe public is split as to whose side they are on.

I'm a hockey fan, and when they come back, people here will still go. Yes, some will not renew their season tickets, but others will take their spot. It's some of those US markets that are going to get hammered further down. Florida,Nashville, etc.

I think Bettman is out after this since he will not contract a team. If I am an owner of a well- to-do team(ie. Rangers) I do not want to subsidize these crap markets any further.
