Comments: I definitely should've gone with short sleeves, I started to overheat with the long sleeve around 3.5m. With the threat of rain I did overdress and it was unseasonably warm for November in New England - 60+!! What would you do differently?: Wear shortsleeve CoolMax, stretch better. Post race
Warm down: Slow jog, stretch (not enough), water, 1/2 banana. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of speed training. Event comments: The Feaster Five was an exceptionally organized race. With 8000 runners it could have been unruly, but the Striders did an amazing job. Jazz bands every mile, 3 water stations for a 5 mile race, and pies for everyone who finished. The town of Andover was incredible as well, people with boomboxes on their porches, lots of spectators throughout the whole race. My wife even woke up to cheer me on as I ran by our house! Woke up at 6:30 (race at 8:30) had normal pre run breakfast of coffee, banana w/PB and half granola bar. Lots of water the night before and in the am.
Less than 1/2 mile warmup with 2 or 3 strides to stretch out legs. Light stretching and staying loose.
