Subject: Swim 20x100m session I am quite bad at swimming and I started seriously 1 year ago looking forward once to make an IM. 1 year ago I could swim 100meters in about 2'20" with hard effort and then stop for a while.
Today I did
4x200m increasing WU
6x50, 25 slow+25 fast
Main set: 20x100meters in average 1'58" with 10 seconds rest in between
4x50 cool down
The target was to use race pace in the 20x100m: mentally it was not easy since I needed to start without pushing too much but at the end I finished quite relaxed, keeping very well that pace. Maybe I had to push more but I wanted to finished in a good shape since 25km run was waiting me after.
The question is: can I assume that TODAY I would swim in a HIM in less than 38'00"? Is this training really indicative of a possible race pace in a HIM or oly?
How do you consider the performance? I will have my first HIM, beginning of june and my first oly beginning of may. My first IM is targeted for september.
I have never been in a master class or to any lesson but I know I should.
My impression is that, differently from running, improvements in swimming one day will stop without going further if I do not get a master, isn't it?
Any comments would be appreciated |
