I was thinking about entering a masters swim competition. I've never looked into it before, but the site to register is here:

Currently the site is down, I phoned them and they said it would be back up in a couple of days.

If you've done races, what are your favorite pools/facilities to race in?

I've done some of the masters swim meets, but not for a few years now.

The UBC meet in November is really big.

I did provincials once because our club was putting it on and they let me enter the 1500 for free. It was kinda nice because I got a nice plaque afterwards with my time engraved on it.

Another good one, that my club puts on is the Love To Swim meet on or around Valentine's Day.

They're all good really. You register with a time, so you are seeded in the pool with swimmers of the same ability.

Are you in a club? If so, then you are probably already an MSABC or MSAC member. If you aren't then you probably need to buy a membership to swim in the meets. I think it around $30. Also, if you are in a club, they usually put together a few relay teams. The relays are the most fun IMO.

Go ahead and register (when you can that is). I do know of some upcoming meets in here and in Washington if you are trying to find out when the next meet is. You'll have fun and it's great to get a time and then see how much you can improve on it before the next meet.

I was looking at the upcoming meets, Perth, Washington, Quebec... Where are all the local meets. Is it normal for this time of year? I guess if the provincial masters is this month, that's a sign this season is done?

Yeah, I think the Provincials kind of mark the end of the season. There are some meets in Washington too, Seattle being quite close. I just get email from my club, so I'll post here whenever I hear of one. I'm sure there is some Masters Swimming USA or WA website that you could look on too.

Also, there's some good open water swims races that you can find here, but yeah, they aren't really the same thing as a swim meet.
