I have only been swimming since January. I mean I have been in and around pools since I was a kid but never tried to swim "competitatvly". I usually just played around with kids stuff, Marco Polo, water volleyball, etc.

Anyway, I was swimming Monday (my usualy routine) when one of the lifeguards at the pool, an older man, came to the end of my lane and waited for me to finish. He has been there for the last few weeks keeping an eye on the morning swimmers. As I was taking a quick breather at the end of the lane he said, "you are swimming smoother than I have noticed for the last few weeks."

Man, I was ready to jump out of the water. Because of that compliment I did an extra 100 pull.

After I finally finished my full workout he asked me if I was training for anything specific. I said, "yes, triathlons." He said he tried tris a few years ago but his knees hurt too much on the run so he gave them up.

When another guy gives me an unexpected compliment at the pool, it's met with the response, "yup, gotta look good for the ladies". :)

Yeah, it's nice when all of your time pays off and someone who knows swimming notices. Congratulations on your improvement. keep it up.

Good job - it's always nice when someone notices those things. I get compliments on my swimming form quite a bit at the pool - then, of course, comes the obvious "what are you training for" question and answer session. And it's not always just dirty old men - they actually compliment me on certain aspects of my form, etc. Now if only hotter, younger men frequented my pool...

Heh, if it was me, and there was a lifeguard standing at the end of my lane, he'd be asking me if I was okay, or did I always swim like I was drowning... Tongue out

I did have another triathlete ask me what I was training for the other morning in the locker room.  I told him "White Lake half", and he kinda chuckled.  He's seen me swim.

He hasn't seen me bike or run though!!Wink

I too have received numerous compliments on my swimming, which I find quite hilarious because I'm one of the slowest fishes in my tri group..... it is nice to hear though!
