Subject: RE: Garmin upload question Plissken74 - 2008-04-18 7:24 PM The 305 is not accurate at all to report Total Ascent. This is a general rule for cheap GPS systems like Garmin 305. Polar S625X is a great instrument to report total Ascent: probably the best commercial equipment around for that purpose. LOL. That's pretty good. "Cheap GPS systems like the Garmin 305". I've never used a Polar, but the Garmin 305 has been extremely accuarate for my running, biking, and open water swimming. No cheesy foot-pods, or cadence sensors to worry about. No recalibrating for different surfaces/different shoes etc... etc... I agree, the altimeter is better on the Polar but... who cares?? Oh.. I see.. you're in Switzerland!! I see why you might care! Now I can see your bias! For most of us flatlanders, the GPS is much better than the pod/sensor systems (IMHO). But to each his own to be sure... Continued success to you!... |
