Not exactly a regular here - I go through phases. No ADD here. Not REAL ADD anyway. I am on here at work b/c I can get away with it. But I actually am not distracted easily in the ADD sense - was always a good kid in school, and I have very good attention to detail, am focused, organized, etc. My job is full of constant distraction by everyone coming at me from all directions with stuff that all needed to happen yesterday, though today is the first day I am hearing about it, and all of it is top priority. But that is just the nature of my position.

You might be right..  They require a test to get into CoJ..  If you finish the test you don't get in..

ADHD without the H.

I wonder if there is a higher incidence among athletes (to begin with, and of course dep/up how one defines athlete), and a higher incidence among endurance athletes, and a higher incidence among multisport athletes. I have wondered this a while.

CoJ, then, I think, also particularly attracts an ADHD-mindset ...

Nothing here, but my older brother has a mild case of it I guess and takes Ritalin - the cure for all kids, I guess.

I don't think I have ADD but I might. At least I've never been diag --- oooh! The sky just got really cloudy and dark. That means I'll be running in the rain tonight. I like running in the rain because it's really cool, usually, and I don't overheat. But then my shirt gets wet and chafes my nips so sometimes I just take it off. But then I get cold again. Running is really therapeutic, though, so I like to do it. I did a brick last night and am doing another tomorrow night but am still going to run tonight. I'm sad, though, because I am going to miss the championship game for our basketball league because I'm going to be stuck at work. Work's going OK though, I just don't like to work late. So. Dude. Wait. What?

Nope

I actually took the time to go read up a bit on ADD And ADHD to make sure I was not just some undiagnosed case and I don't think I am.

I probably have plenty of other afflictions but happily this is not one of them

Used to suspect that ADD bit was all a bunch of crap so that teachers would not have to deal with small active boys - then I got this organize-your-life book and WHOA!! 8 out of 10. It explained a lot.

So not diagnosed, but probably so.

Look! Something shiny over the reef!

I've been diagnosed.. I've just never tried meds for it.. But I'm considering the med route..

What book did you read?

I tried meds.  They worked when I took them.  Focalin XR (morning) and Focalin (afternoon).  They helped with the ability to change focus on different tasks, and made it easier to get organized.

Which is the real trick.  The meds in and of themselves are only a small part of the equation.  They just aid you in making your life better.  YOU still have to do the work and get your life organized and on track.

A good book is "ADD Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life".  (I think that's the title...it's close

THANK YOU ... I had it in my head once but forgot to buy it

A book I recommend, not as a "how to" manual, necessarily, but priceless ...

Delivered from Distraction by Edward Hallowell (a psychiatrist with, and who studies, ADHD).

I laughed and sobbed every chapter. I'd worked specifically with learning-challenged students for years, very well (probably because of the identification), but had no idea ... diagnosis confirmed by psychiatric evaluation ...
