Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The challenge will begin June 1 and will end June 30th. Should there be enough interest to continue through July (or beyond) it will be determined at the end of the month. At the end of the month the winning team will display a signature line: "My team won the June Weight Loss Challenge and I lost XX lbs!" Everyone else will display an avatar of something that SHOULD have motivated them to lose the weight - a bikini photo, etc. They will also display in their signature line: "My team may not have won the June weight loss challenge but I did lose XX lbs." Avatars and signature lines will be displayed for the month of July. After that, it's your choice whether to leave it, or remove it. Each person has picked a weight loss goal to reach by June 30th (listed below). The team that loses the biggest percent of weight is the winner. Each Sunday individual results should be posted to this thread. Game updates will be posted on Monday in the main thread . Posting days to this thread are *June 1 (initial weight) *June 8 *June 15 *June 22 *June 29. Final results will be posted in the main thread on Monday, June 30th. Should you find you are unable to weigh in on Sunday or post your results on that day that is okay - just let your team captain know in advance. Smack talking: -- Smack talking is not mandatory, but may be done. -- Smack talk is different from a personal attack. If you aren’t sure what the difference is, err on the side of caution and do not post the comment. (Keep in mind that real people are reading your comments!) -- Smack talking is not to be taken personally. If you get upset about a post, ignore it and move on. -- If you find a post offensive, and cannot simply ignore it: Walk away from the computer until you feel better, OR better yet, go for a good workout. A hard workout does wonders for your perspective. The ultimate goal of this Challenge is to get our bodies in a more healthy state, to meet fellow BTers (virtually or otherwise), and to have some fun! Hopefully, this Challenge will give you a little extra incentive and motivation to succeed at your goals – whatever they may be. Welcome to the Challenge! Nutrition/weight loss is my biggest challenge in this triathlon 'lifestyle', with a big race in Sept I NEED to drop some lbs. so I'm counting on all of you for motivation with this. |

My favorite snack right now is a snappy granny smith apple with a little peanut butter on the side. And my favorite post workout drink is chocolate milk (1% milk). |

I have the nicest neighbors around, but every evening one of them is bringing supper over. lot's of fried foods and everything usually always has gravy. I sure don't want to hurt any feelings. should I say no thanks, or take it and throw it out, or just eat a small portion? Believe me this home cooking is great though. My favorite snack right now is peanut butter and celery sticks, and I am eating quite a few unsalted nuts and fruits. Not for sure if I can post tomorrow. Starting weight is 219 and falling |

If you haven't left yet, I would pack as many healthy snacks/food as possible to take with you. 30 min to an hour before "dinner" time, fill up on healthy fruits, veggies, fiberous foods, etc. That way, you will eat smaller portions of the "bad" food at dinner time. So then, you are eating in moderation, getting the good stuff, feeling full and not hurting anyone's feelings. I think that sounds reasonable..... |

Bippers, I am not a milk drinker, but get my milk down my drinking 1% milk with sugar free chocolate syrup (which has only 10 calories per 2 TBS). I also like Orange Sunrise Crystal Lite in the mornings to get my first bottle of water in. I lost 25 lbs last summer and have been able to keep it off without much trouble. I'd like to lose another 5-10 lbs this summer (I'm 5'9 and just above my normal BMI right now). Dwayne, maybe just be honest and explain the challenge to your well intentioned neighbors and ask them to hold off the meals for a couple of weeks, but that's a hard one. I'd love my neighbors to feed me during the week! Tomorrow we start!! Team 1 is Number 1!! And good luck to Jackie in her relay tomorrow! Edited by lufferly 2008-05-31 9:54 PM |

Eat the appropriate daily amounts of veggies, fruits, starches, etc. Also, attempting to keep my daily cal intake to 1,200-1,500 a day. Also, taking things out of my diet like soda, chips, etc. Now that I am in my 30's, I can't eat the way I did when I was in my 20's. LOL I know this is the way I need to eat for life, so hopefully this will give me a good start. |
