Cycling news has a story on Alenxandre Vinokourov and his retirement... in it he states he is going to concentrate on triathlon as a 'hobby'

As a professional athlete (former) I wonder what his idea of sport as a 'hobby' to keep active is...

Larent Jalabert competed in Kona last year. Oddly, he was something like 26th fastest bike split. His swim was absolutely abysmal, but his run was pretty good. Seems he recovered from the swim.

I also read that he "unretired" and is now planning on racing in the Olympics.

And then he just did Nice last month and put up a 1:06 or so for the swim and rocked the bike and marathon to finish in the top 20 overall and win the 35-39 AG ...........

I still want to know who the 25 guys faster than his bike split were. I mean, JaJa would go on solo breaks for what, 150km and the fields would have to actually work to catch him? The guys the ultimate solo rider and yet his split is 26th? That and a 3:10 marathon is really impressive.

I really admire that he's not sitting around and living on his laurels.
