Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: Silence-Lotto Team Thread Hi Silence-Lotto,
Welcome to the Tour De France Bike Challenge 2008.
Appearing in last years Tour De France as Predictor-Lotto, this team sponsored by a national lottery and a pharmaceuticals company is all about the Aussies. The team has one main goal this year, to support Australian rider Cadel Evans in his quest for the yellow jersey. For last years second place Cadel, this is the first year he has a full team behind him to provide support in his quest for the yellow jersey. Australian Robbie McEwen will also return to the roads of France this year to contest the sprints, but with the team focus changed for this season he will be relying on his tactics and skill to propel him to an strong position in the sprint stages.
On BT, your team line up for the challenge is: 1. Bondgirl 2. doctorbob18 3. GonnaGoRun 4. HammerOZZ 5. jmk-brooklyn 6. KathyG 7. L-train0502 8. ScotinMinnesota 9. tritwinmom Now you have found the team thread, introduce yourself to your team mates below with some information which could include name, goals or info on your current bike(s). Reporting for the challenge over the next three weeks will take place in three blocks matching the Tour De France racing days. The dates are as follows: Week 1: 5th – 14th July Week 2: 15th – 21 July Week 3: 22 – 27 July Your team has a tracking spreadsheet set up and active in google spreadsheet. To open the spreadsheet click on this link: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pfYL7DR_dx-Df2nRbTRQILw&... /> To login to Google Docs: Username: btchallenge Password: challengeforum You can update the spreadsheet at any time to track your own, and your teams progress. I will be grabbing each teams results to date and posting a challenge update that includes all of the teams progress and any interesting tid bits from the various team threads. This update will be posted at the end of the each reporting week listed above. The winning team will be determined by the team with the highest percentage of goal achieved. No one can go over 100% of goal and if more than one team hits 100% then there is more than one winning team! To remind everyone to post their updates, and I recommend that you nominate a team leader to help with reminding everyone to report in each week. But the job of inspiring and motivating your team mate really does rest with each individual so don’t forget to give everyone some regular encouragement here in the team thread and through inspires on training logs. I will try to pop in regularly to see how your team is getting on. If there are any questions throughout the course of the challenge let me know, I will pop back in the next 24 hours with some additional information and rider profiles for your Tour De France team before the action kicks off on the roads of France. Happy Pedaling Cat |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Silence-Lotto Team Thread Hi Everyone...I'm Kathy from MA and I ride two sweet bikes...Kuota K Factor is my tri bike and she is my weapon of choice now. In the Winter I ride yes outside when it is 20 or warmer a also amazing Orbea Onix. I was on the Lotto team last year and had my biggest riding month to date last July. This July will be different as I'm tapering for my first Ironman July 20th in Lake Placid so my stages and mileage won't be so impressive and I must follow my plan. Currently I going through tapering ups and downs and can be both cranky and kid like all the same day.

I'm in the homestretch for my A race of the season, the NYC Tri on the 20th. My bike is a Motobecane Mirage Pro that I bought from bikesdirect.com. It's cheap and heavy, but it's all about the engine anyway, right? Edited by jmk-brooklyn 2008-07-04 7:20 AM |

Master 1567 Kauai, Hawaii | Subject: RE: Silence-Lotto Team Thread Aloha and G'day mates! Thanks Cat I love you Aussies! Anywho I am Nancy I love my bike it is a specialized multi sport, I got him last winter on a closeout, I am working my way to a fancier bike, I just need to break my hubby in slowly... I think I call him Bullet. Excited to be in the tour with all, I missed it last year due to illness/injury. I'm so happy to be training solidly this year, maybe I have an Olympic in my future next year! I believe I signed up for 8 stages in 8 hours. I am guessing that every ride I do has to be at least an hour to count? Depending on the day and if my kids are out of summer school I will be on my trainer quite a bit. Hopefully we have a table techy on board so we can have a quick link to our rooster! Last one I did I needed Dee to keep fixing it and she wasn't even in the challenge! Off to get my boys some breakie! |

Expert 831 Eltham North, Victoria | Subject: RE: Silence-Lotto Team Thread G'day mates, Genuine fair dinkum Aussie here. My name is Tammie and I'm from Eltham, Victoria. Cadel actually went to Eltham High school and did much of his riding around these parts. There's plenty of hills. My bike is quite old, a Giant TCR2 but it fits me perfectly and I feel quite at home on him. I'm actually away for the first 5 days of the challenge. My brother has been quite sick and I'm going to visit him in sunny Queensland. Do us proud team and I'll see you all when I get back. Hooroo Tam |

I volunteered along with 2 of my 5 kids and husband in transition at a HIM..it was great fun other than it aggrevated my lower back. Champion 7821 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Silence-Lotto Team Thread It will be better.... No time for a ride for me. I did log 4 hours in the car between Brooklyn and CT today. My bike is hanging on the wall, and it might be my imagination, but it looks like she's looking disapprovingly at me. I'll start earning my keep tomorrow. |

Regular 77 Wallingford, PA | Subject: RE: Silence-Lotto Team Thread Hi everyone! I was at the shore this weekend, so I'm checking in a little late. My name's Sara...I'm from PA, just outside of Philly. This is my second season doing tris, and just finished my first Oly a couple weeks ago. I'm currently riding a Specialized Ruby which I just got in December. I've put a lot of miles in on her since then, and I've been having a blast! |

Okay, so here is my sad little attempt at making a table for our team! I tried to add a picture background, but couldn't seem to make it work. Rob- I think your log is set to private. If you want to make it public for this challenge, we can add a link in the table.

I tried to add a picture background, but couldn't seem to make it work. To add a background, you just add one more thing to the table command (which is the first line of the table), so it includes the following: background="http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=74058" (Where the http address is the location of the image.) For example: <table background="http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=74058" border="2"> - Dee |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Silence-Lotto Team Thread Cool tables..I'm so itching to ride..tomorrow I get to Tapering is weird but good. I think I may order a new bike tomorrow..now that will be an awesome day. I want a cyclecross bike and am going to MN after my Ironman and staying on an island with only dirt paths..great cyclecross riding location. Riding my tri bike means trip in a boat to mainland twice and disrupts my family. Looking at getting a Redline Conquest or Salsa Chili Con Crosso I'm going to get my Kuota checked out and talk with the shop price and when I could get either one. The Salsa's geometry is very close to what would be a custom bike would be..so that is what I'm leaning towards. It is made out of scandium which I hear is good as cycle cross bikes get beat up more and carbon isn't a great choice for a newb like me.
