Rode the loop this afternoon. Pretty good shape with one little exception. Portions of Timber Lane were recently chip sealed. It started right after Old Sauk Pass. If you stayed in a main tire track it wasn't bad, otherwise might as well bring the mountain bike. Right after Mineral Point it stopped, then it started again at the very end, at the bottom of the big hill, the one with the turn at the bottom. Could have been bad, very bad.

Ride through maybe another mile or so of chips in those little rollers on midtown(?) and that was it. I had a couple hairy moments, wasn't all that fun.

Be careful out there, especially coming down that last hill on Timber.

With the strong winds and storm that just came through, I wonder how much of that came off, and how many branches and junk are now on the road?  Lovely.

Well, some of the chip seal is clearing little by little, and makes one dangerous ending and turn at the bottom of that hill!  What a bunch of dumbazzes for doing that.

There are a couple more areas to watch out for.  Starting by the overpass as you start up the big hill going into Mt. Horeb has some shoulder gravel running off onto the road.  It's avoidable, but watch out for cars if needing to maneauver onto the right lane.  There's some minor roadwork with gravel when you get out past Mt. Horeb on the backroads about a few miles out.

And let's not talk about that dang, brutal wind!

There is now a "loose gravel" sign at the bottom of that hill (Saturday July 26) Believe the sign, folks. There is loose gravel there and it could be real bad if you're not careful.

In addition to the "Loose Gravel" Sign at the bottom of the hill stated above (it is better, but still dangerous as of Yesterday)

There is now a section of Fresh Chip sealing "loose gravel" where you have to turn left off of Garfoot, then Right back onto Garfoot... It is good to be aware of it as the right turn back onto Garfoot is a bit downhill so be careful on the turn..

It was a gorgeous day out on the course yesterday!
Craig, (firstnet911????) if you see this... it was great meeting you! I hope the rest of the ride treated you well. Thanks for catchin up with me when you did, i needed someone to chat with at that point, and was happy to see a friendly face!
