I don't know about anyone else, but for the past week I have been glued to my TV watching the Olympic coverage.  Tonight was no exception as Phelps swam for the 8th gold medal.  I guess my question is... is anyone else out there so inspired by the competition, dedication and passion of the Olympians?  It personally makes me want to get out the door, train harder than ever before and dream bigger than I have ever thought.

Or, Libby Callahan (age 56) or John Dane (58).

I've heard (no proof) that the US has some of the oldest athletes with 17 competitors over 40 and five of those are 50 or older.  Gives me hope at age 42 that I can keep on going.

I think this guy is the oldest Olympian this year: http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/BIO/Athlete/1/224451.shtml

He could be my grandfather.

I think the olympics are really inspiring too. I watched last night's womens marathon, 100 meter dash finals, and Michel Phelps winning his 8th gold medal. It was all SO amazing!

This may sound really stupid, but for part of my run today I pretended like I was an elite marathoner (even though their cool-down pace is faster than my sprint-for-my-life pace ). It actually made me run a little faster than I normally do! How is that for corny?

Not corny.  I play mind games like that all the time while training.  Works for me, too.

Apparently watching all the hottie swimmers for the past week has me fired up in the pool - I did a pretty fast workout overall yesterday, at least for me (time in my log is approximate and includes rest intervals, if you were to go back and look).
