This is my first year training and I've been fortunate to take advantage of the long days (and early mornings) especially for my riding. I live in Longmont and am fond of riding Nelson, 75th and HWY 36. I'm concerned that is it dark now at 5:00am when I normally ride and it will continue to get worse. How safe do any of you in the area feel it is to ride in the dark? Any suggestions other than the obvious ("lights front and back and reflective clothing" or should I look at buying a trainer and not take the chance? Thanks for any suggestions...Cam.
I'd do a combo, get the gear (lights, clothing etc) for outside (REI is going to have the NiteRider lights on sale starting Aug 22nd for their Labor Day sale) but get a trainer too. We'll have plenty of very cold mornings coming through the winter when no matter how many layers I have I just wouldn't ride outside. And that's coming from a hardcore skier who will ski at -15 degrees.
I have the CycleOps Magneto. It's just below the Fluid2 which also gets great reviews but I've not had any issues with the Magneto and couldn't justify the price of the Fluid2. Just an FYI, Bicycle Village will match any local price so I went there and showed them the price REI was quoting.
