Subject: IMKY Mile markers - run
After looking at the IMKY maps for the bike and run, there are no mile markers on the site.  I want to make a schedule for my Iron-sherpas....basically a guess as to what time I hope to be at a certain mile on the bike/run.  I'll have them go to the the La Grange festival for the bike portion and at to T2.  But on the run, I'm lost at where to have them go to see me.  I need mile markers!  Any tips from those who have done this race or who live in the area?

Try this for the bike course (use the settings button at the top if the mile markers do not show up):

http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/ky/louisville/636359587

Use the settings button at the top if the mile markers do not show up - click the km box, then click back to miles and it will display.

If they are anywhere on the out and back portion, they will see you 4 times.  Just have them find a nice shady spot.  :-)

Is the run course the same this year? I thought that I heard something about it changing, but the map on the site looks like last years.

For the run, what I think works best for spectators, not necessarily you, but for them, is to have them be closer to the 4th Street Live area. They could head a couple of blocks up onto 3rd Street and see you on that out and back. They can then head to the comfort of the air conditioned restaurants and stores while waiting for you to come around again to finish.

So, is there actually room in the 4th Street Live area or will it be jammed up completely?

Actually, by the time I finish, it will probably be wide open, but in general how busy is it?

Well the later it gets it seems to get crazier around the finish.  Rollinsw had  the best advice as to where your friends and family might want to be.  That will insure that they will see you 3 - 4 times during race

There is a major football game going on at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium that starts at 3:30, and when the Cards win, 4th St will be rocking all night long, so expect busy!

Corner of 3rd and Chestnut would be a decent place.....close enough to be have access to all that 4th Street Live offers as well as being an easy place for you to know where they will be......plus if my memory serves correctly there is some shade near that corner.......

Have fun and don't forget to say "Hi" when you Finish....my wife and I will be in the Finish chute helping out!
