Subject: 2009 race schedules

Hi,

 

When is the general time frame yearly race schedules listed or updated ? Nov ? Dec ?

I havent found much info for next years races yet.

Maybe you could find a race you like on the 2008 scedule then you could email the race director and ask the date for 2009.

Up until 2 or so years ago you'd see race dates announced around the beginning of February and registrations start around the same time.

That's changed though. Now you can expect to see dates announced and registration open in November and December for larger, more popular races. Smaller races may still not announce their dates until early in the year but it's becoming rarer. 

As JeepFleeb said, you can use this years schedule as a guide. Most races will try to stick with the same weekend every year, such as a race that's always on the 1st Sunday in August.

The bigger races announce their dates right after this year's race, and entry seems to open around November/December. I'm already registered for an HIM in April since that's not too far off, others I'm waiting for November. You can check the individual race sites for information on 2009 and most will post it as soon as they have it.

I've heard through the grapevine that many of the RD's have a regional meeting at Frost Your Fanny around the first of Feb and that's where they work out some dates if there's a conflict and firm up dates.
