Subject: renting race wheels for ironman I'm thinking about this. I've considered buying too, but honestly with the bike crash I just had the money is bit thin and the new bike, while light has some heavyazz wheels on it.
So, I'm thinking racedaywheels.com for IMFL. I know, train like you race and all that, but I'd like to think there is some benefit to finishing my training on the clunkers and that over 112 miles I'll really notice some lighter/more aero wheels.
$140, I'd get to ride them wed/thur/fri pre race. On site rental pickup (you reserve now though ) and I could alway switch back to my own wheels if I'm unhappy in the test rides. BUT...I've never had very nice wheels and don't know what difference it would make. What if they are way way used and suck (I've read the horror stories ). What if I can't handle the crosswind with an aero wheel?
What are your thoughts?
