Subject: RE: Blackland Triathlon 10/19tajsss - 2008-09-04 2:41 PM Not sure the concern with traffic control and drivers. It should be like any other race where drivers have to wait at lights for the race that's going on, can't see how it would be any different or any more or less of a problem. The tris I've done have either been on very low-traveled roads or in protected lanes with mostly right turns. This course has many left turns and straights through fairly major roads. Anybody who lives in Murphy, Wylie, Parker probably uses one of these roads to get to/from 75 or 190. Then, the race is 2 hours later than normal so there will be more traffic. When drivers have to wait, they get pissed. Some drive more aggressively as a result and some complain to the city. Either way, it's not good for us. I'd really like it to go well as I do like the idea of a late race and one that is close to my house, but I'm just a little concerned about the bike route.
