This is probably stupid, but I'm a TOTAL newbie, so try not to laugh.

I'm 30 days from my 1st Sprint & am really getting into a groove with my training.

Consistency (finally I'm being consistent) is really paying off!  PR's are happening.

Now, seriously, I'm not breaking land-speed records, guys...I'm a new kid.  But, for me...these are good distances & times.

So, here's my concern:

Am I "Peaking" too early?  Or, at my training level (wimp) is there really such a thing as a Peak?

All advice welcome!

You're probably just improving and not peaking, which is great by the way.

I think that hitting your peak at the right time is really difficult to do, especially when you're new. Additionally, you probably won't really know what gets you into peak shape until you've been at it a while. It's a little different for each athlete. I've been at this for a good 5 years and I'm still not sure exactly when I'll be in peak form.

I'd say you having a good build based on the charting of your logs.  Keep it up the awesome training from last week for the next 2.5-3 weeks then bring home the taper.  If all goes well you'll be posting something about the taper blahs before the race and you then you'll have a great race!

If you are following a training plan they have it geared for the race at the end. I doubt you are peaking but rather improving quickly since you are new. It is a great place to be in..enjoy it! The longer you have trained the harder and longer smaller gains take.

Peaking comes from specific types of workout that get that last little bit of speed that lasts a short time for a race.

Enjoy this fun time..have fun at your first tri!!

keep on training as much as your plan/schedule/life priorities allows you and don't worry about improving, that's a good thing!

I agree with Kathy G, if your on a plan stick to it, it should taper down distance and maybe add some intensity near the race date.

If not, you may consider a few days before the race to less activity or maybe even take the day or two before off.

Everyone is different, I cant stand to taper and race better with a short rest before race.

Just another thought for you....

Be careful not to do what I consistently do....  When I start to see some PRs in and speed/ endurance breakthroughs, I tend to get excited and ramp up even more training/ intensity.   Don't do that- I usually end up hitting a wall 1-2 weeks later.  Be consistent but throw in a rest day if you start to feel the weight of training.

That's exactly where my head is right now..."Oooo!  Cool!  Fun!!!  Now I can push harder!!! Let's go! Go! Go!"

And then I thought...better post the question.

Thanks for the tip.
