Subject: How to store bike for the winter
I just realized I have too many bikes--4 of them.

And I'm homeless, which means my poor bikes are also homeless. They are hidden in various places around town, but that's no permanent solution. I'm sure my boss will realize my tri bike is hidden in our back room any day--and ride off with it! I want to find a way to cram them into a storage unit with the rest of my stuff.

Is there anything I should know about prepping my bikes for long-term storage?

Also, what's the cheapest source of bike boxes or material I can use to make a bike box?

I'm sure your friends here at BT will be happy to take your bikes off your hands...

As for storage, I think your LBS would be happy to give you some of the boxes they get bikes in.  Since you are not planning to ship them anywhere, I don't think you need to worry about having things prepped too much.  Probably just remove the pedals and handlebars/cockpit, and protect the rear deraileur.
