I have read that that the bike course is hilly. What cassette is everyone running. I am guessing a 12-25 might be good.

12-25 is perfect for that course. Rolling Hills, nothing too steep.

Just in case our baby doesn't come by then, I set up my bike last night with the 12-25 and stipped it of all but one bottle holder. I'll tape one gel to the top tube. This season I definitely have found that I'm a minimalist racer.

What is your cycling background? What do you normally train with?

I used an 11-23 last year and never wished I had a smaller gear, but remember using the bigger gears a good bit. And I'm not a masher by any stretch. The course really isn't that "hilly" IMO....as I remember there is one moderate climb early on and then a bunch of rollers that you can use momentum to carry you halfway up.

That being said, if you have not done much hill work then the 25 will do you fine.

I do alot of hill work - I ride the gaps once every two weeks. I may leave the 11-23.
