Hi fellow BTer's!

Anyone registered to do Lakeside II? Seems only 50 spots left for the tri and du. Tri a tri has already sold out. Looking forward to doing this late season event. Not sure what the air and water temps will be like but likely rather chilly. At least stretching the tri season this year will hopefully help make next year's events come faster!

I did Lakeside I tri a tri last June and the sprint this June. I like the venue....rather flat run course....bike course flat/rolling hills if I remember correctly......swim was not bad temps in June. Transition area is alittle tight but a good event. It will be a good race.....

"The bike is flat for the first half with a couple little hills. The back half has a few more hills and is generally into the wind. If you can take it easy first half to save some legs for the last 10km"

Hey Kevin,

I think I mentioned I'm doing Lakeside. I did the try-a-tri last year and really liked the set up. It was a fast bike course. I was hoping the sprint would be fast too. This is my last chance of the year to get a PB on my bike. I can do the hills and the flats but the wind just knocks the heck out of me. Any suggestions on cycling into the wind besides the usual 'stay aerodynamic'. And I will try to save some legs for the last 10km.

Thanks for the info on the run course.

I have another question for you on replying to posts on the forum - how do you cut and paste a person's comments so it looks the way it does in your response to Jyles16? Do you know what I mean?

Hi Latestarter

Sorry to jump in here but all you have to do is highlight the wording you want to duplicate, press the "reply" button at the bottom, right click with the mouse and hit "copy" and then "paste" or from the top menu "edit". Does that help? It worked for me fine.
Lakeside should be an awesome event being the last one of the season for everyone. There will be a real hipe I think. Let's all make it the best race of the year - I'll take some PB's too! Nice way to end the tri season.

I registered for Lakeside II, but won't be able to do it as I am being forced....yes! forced to run a 1/2 mary the day before.  My advice:  If the water is cold, hold your pee until you get into your wetsuit.  Embarassed

Best wishes everyone!

I did lakeside 1 and it's an awesome venue, the course isn't too challengin just a few rollers on the bike course, alot of the run is on hard packed gravel roads, and yes the lake is very shallow and heat up very fast. From all the rain this past weekend the water level has risne quite a bit and gotten cold, but as long as the sun comes out this week it'll be fine by the weekend.

I'd be there for this one, but I'm doing a 1/2 marathon in Toronto the following weekend and it's my A race.

Im going to consider this triathlon my "a" race since it is my last tri this year. Im thinking about doing the toronto waterfront-half if i can find my way to toronto for some fun. Then start into hardcore winter training.  Other then that i am just around the north end of london looking for an intersting job and places to train explore, and have fun. But if there are any events in or around London this fall, please! let me know.

Hi Gang. I also am doing the sprint at Lakeside. Has anyone heard what the water temp is currently. With these cold nights it can't be great.
I did the Lakeside I Try a Tri in June as my first ever triathlon and really liked the venue. The transition area while a little close was good in that it didn't take long to get through it.
Thanks for the info on the bike course. I think I will likely gear down a bit and keep my pedal turn over rate good on the outbound ride and rev it up returning.
The only other time I have done this distance was the Guelph II adn I want to seriously beat that time.

Hi Latestarter. To reply to a specific quote all you have to do is hit the "quote" button. This will open a new message for you. From there go to the end of the quote and hit enter. That will take you to a new line and presto your repsonse will look like you want it to. If you want to respond to only a portion of the "quote" then simply delete that part of the quote you don't want to reply to.

Hopefully that will help you out.

Redknight- I'll try and find out how cold the water is, I have 2 friends that live right on the lake.

Jyles16- I'm doing the Waterfront 1/2 in T.O. as well, I would offer you a ride but I'm leaving from work (Cambridge) on Saturday and staying over. As for fall races check out www.runnerschoice.com A great store and they put on a lot of great races, I'll be doing the Halloween 10k on Oct. 26th.

WOW. I think I did it. Thanks for the explanation Redknight.

Really looking forward to Lakeside. Lost a couple of months mid summer due to running injury but have managed a couple of try-a-tri's at the end of August and the Wasaga sprint. I'll be running slowly, but am hopeful for a good run.

Was in Guelph Lake last Thursday and the water felt like it was in the high 60's. Quite nice, actually. I really hope they don't cancel the swim, because there is no way I could do a duathlon. Right now, the weather is looking pretty good.

Hope we can meet up. I think we are in the same age group. If we don't, have a great race!

but also gear down and spin. You will find that keeping the cadence up will help you. Other then that... riding in wind is the only thing that helps. You have to do it a lot and even I have a problem with it. I may just come and cheer everyone on though. If you see a big guy on a big black bike cheering you on, that's me.

Good luck and great race!

Thanks Bopper. Will take your advice and give it all I've got. They have just changed the bike course AGAIN. First time racing a bike course sight unseen. Don't really like to do that. It would be great to have you cheer everyone on. Quite a few BT'ers finishing up the season with Lakeside. A number of us are hanging around for a picnic lunch to celebrate. The more the merrier! Will keep my eye open for you.

Rode out there today, whoa thats a perfect lake. The only note i could give you guys is that transiton is going to need a towel as the beach is really tender - (mud n' sand) - they threw in an extra couple hills on the new bike course apparently....im pumped. gonna be a good ride. The run remains the same.

yahooo, weather gonna be pretty awesome! ... although i do hope it is cold

Just got back from Lakeside and drove the bike course. It is GREAT!! Really reminds me of Belwood for anyone who has done that race. Roads are really nice and smooth and tons of rollers. If the wind stays under control, it could be a very fast course.

Was surprised at the run though. More hills than I care to run, but not steep. The water was warm, and quite high. This will be a very nice race to finish the season with.

Best of luck to everyone.

Hello everyone;

I am doing this as my first Try a Tri.. i signe dup for last years Wasaga Sprint but it was down graded last minute to a Duathalon, so this is my first ever Tri... and I do NOT have a wet suit!

I went swimming today up North (muskoka) and the water was FREEZING

Is anyone else doing this without a wet suit or am I the only crazy in the bunch?

Have a great race everyone!
