Well it is getting close to that time when all of us mere mortals dream of getting a lottery slot and as this will be my first time entering I have some questions that I hope some of you can answer.

1) Does the HIM that you do have to be a M-dot race or can it be any sanctioned 70.3 distance? (One of the FAQ of BT, but even with forum search, it isn't very clear)

2) The FAQ page says that the HIM that you do to validate must be completed within 1 year of lasts years Hawaii Ironman and before Aug 30th. It also says that you must send in proof of your validation within 15 days of the completion of said HIM. Since the lottery results come out in April does that mean that your HIM must be done between April and Aug? If you do a HIM before that do you send it in with your lottery entry?

Thank you all for any info you guys have!

1) Only one year (2006), when USAT and WTC were fueding were you required to do an M-Dot race to validate. Now that they kissed and made up any sanctioned HIM or longer race works.
2) In 2007, when I won my spot, I used my 2006 IMFL (Nov 2006) to validate it and since it was an M-Dot race they already had the records and printed it out. The clock starts once you receive that awesome e-mail.

Good Luck

I was trying to remember if I saw any info about the proof... A copy of the results page with your name and finish time?

From the Ironman Lottery page.

US/INTERNATIONAL SELECTED ATHLETES

Athletes who are SELECTED through the Ironman Lottery must have completed an event that is 70.3 (1.2 Mile, 56 Mile + 13.1 Mile) distance or greater within one year of the 2008 Ford Ironman World Championship to validate his/her lottery slot. Lottery winners must complete the validating race before August 31, 2008 and all validating information should be received in the Kona Race Office by August 31, 2008. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of the lottery slot.

I was all hooked up with my Lake Stevens 70.3 on the 6th of July, they just failed to give me one of the Lottery Slots.
