Subject: HI! - I think I need a butt bra for running...

I wrote in the intro section that I had lost a lot of weight and had about 60 more to lose and someone recommended this section which is awesome!  I went to a running store and got an amazing running bra, its like body armor.

Anyway, when I started trying to run (and did better than I thought I would), I felt my butt jiggling/bouncing and it was a bit annoying.  My first thought was that I needed a butt bra.  Now I hope as I lose weight, it'll go away but should I run with something that is meant to reduce the bounce?  I also have some loose skin due to my weight loss as well so I'm sure that stuff is bouncing around as well.

Compression shorts and spandex are your friend. If you aren't comfortable wearing just that, then throw another pair of looser running shorts over it, but the compression shorts will help with the jiggle.   I have that too, and if I'm not wearing something a bit more supportive, it can actually hurt (like running without a bra would...youch!)

X2 on compression shorts.  Additionally if you are looking for even more support Skins (skins.net) or 2XU make performance tights which may work well.

Those skins do look awesome.

I did buy some compression shorts and I went on my second run yesterday and noticed a little less bounce but it was there.

Compression shorts are your best bet.

The most obscure feeling is when you are running and hit juuuust the right tempo that it feels like your entire butt, including the glute muscles are disconnected from the underlying bone.  I've had it happen a couple of times and it was funky.

Yeah, I forgot my compression shorts for a run the other day...oh, no good, no good at all.

Check to see if you are wearing just spandex, or if they are actually compression shorts. There is a difference. And really, they shouldn't be comfy to put on, they should be "too" tight. Not only will they loosen a bit, but you want them holding everything in place. Kinda like a really supportive sports bra - no fun to wriggle in and out of or to wear to the mall, but awfully nice when you need it!
