Subject: Should I sell my Schwinn IC Pro spinning bike?
A couple of years ago before I started getting into triathlons I purchased a new Schwinn IC Pro spinning bike. It is still in brand new condition but it is not getting used as much as it should. The thought that has come to me lately is;

Should I sell the spinning bike and buy a high end trainer?

I am thinking that the trainer might give me a workout that is closer to actual road riding than the spinning bike. I have had a bike fitting so my tri bike fits perfect, the spinning bike is always a compromise. The spinning bike takes up room and is heavy, the trainer takes up not much more space than my tri bike does already. I can also use my Garmin to pickup speed and cadence which I cannot get on the spinning bike.

Is there something I'm missing? Should I keep it or sell it?

Thank for you input,

Scott

Have you ridden a trainer yet? Try one and then decide.

You might also consider trying rollers if you're interested in a ride similar to the road. Personally I don't think riding on a trainer is anything like road riding, but the reason may be that I have a low-end trainer. If I could make the buying decision again, I would buy rollers.

I have a vested interest in this answer, but I have to say this anyhow.  i actualy manufacture a new indoor cycle called the RealRyder www.realryder.com that is the best indoor trainer available anywhere, however it isn't smaller than the bike you presently use and it is more expensive.  <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}

Scott,
IMO, sell it if you don't use it. buy a trainer and a gift for your SO.

I like this answer.....Might even get me a few extra training days or if I'm lucky another race.
