Subject: Got my bike today, 2nd ride of the day and car pushed my into loose sand = road rash
I got my bike last night and rode this morning in the rain and then tonight I was riding to my gym to swim and it is a narrow road. I was doing 40 miles per hour in Aero position and a car decides he can make it between me and another car going to the other way. He was very close to me and I tried to get upright again and hit a little sand. To make a story short I was surprised how far you can slide on your shoulder and camel back (it had my gym shoes) and some fun road rash. It was a weight night tonight, no high chlorine tonight swimming and also a tad of a sore shoulder. I dislocated it last summer so I am very great happy it stayed in. Bike is fine, but ego is a tad crushed (2nd ride).

Yikes!  Glad you (and the bike) survived with minimal damage.   40mph could have been really bad for you both!   Now you can go add your pictures to the road-rash thread.

The car did not even stop!  The guy at the bike store who put it together said I will crash eventually.   Never would of guess it would be today.  Shoulder is sore now, but at least my knee is now good enough to run.

Wow...that sounds scary!  I'm glad you and the bike made it through relatively unscathed.

I'll bet he didn't stop because he didn't see you and didn't even know he ran you off the road.  It's amazing how oblivious we can be in cars.  Did anybody stop to see if you were ok?

Glad ya made it through ok.

I had 2 more cars behind go past also.  There is no way he did not see me with my bike flipping around and me sliding on my shoulder and back.  The camelback did take the blunt of it pretty well though.  I am feeling body sore now, and I am traveling back to Ontario for the week-end.  I was doing 40 in 35 also, so it was not like he needed to pass me right then anyways he could of waited until the other lane was open and swerve around me some.
