Subject: Tri bike computer

I recently purchased a Cervelo P2C and am trying to figure out what to use for a bike computer.  All I really want is accurate speed and distance.  (I've already got a simple heart rate monitor I like, and don't want anything else to use while I'm running.)

So I'm wondering, for accurate speed and distance, am I better off with a GPS-based device (like a Garmin 205?) or a simpler bike computer?  My concern about the latter is that it might be difficult to mount the sensor on the P2C's bladed fork.  Regarding something like the Garmin -- do they provide accurate speed/distance measurements?

Thanks.

x2 on the Garmin 305.  I do have cadence sensor, so not only do I get the data during the summer but also get all my speed/cadence info on my trainer since the speed sensor is on the back wheel.

I recently went through this exact same question, although my requirements were different.

If you only want speed and distance you can find a bunch of options (personally I don't use GPS for these when I can do it with a simple sensor (I prefer wireless).  I have found them much more reliable for speed and distance compared to GPS style ones (I don't have experience with Garmin thou).

I wanted a display with speed, distance, cadance, and HR. so I went with the Polar 300? CAD.  I am very happy.  I don't use the HR when I am racing (I have a watch that I use for that for the swim, bike and run) but for all of my training rides I use the HR from the Polar.

it is also wireless and I have found it works great.
