Does anyone know of a place to practice open water swim around NYC (that's open now)?

How far do you want to Travel, the beaches in Lower Ct are closed, but there is access to them.

I have a car so lower CT is some what easy for me to get to.  Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

With a Car it is easy, i know for a fact that Calf pasture in Norwalk (where i live) and Compo Beach in Westport have beaches that you can access in the mornings without a parks pass, i have not been to any of the lower beaches (Darien, Greenwich, Stamford) so i can not speak for them, right now the water is still in the 60's and comfortable with a wetsuit, but with the cold spell we are having i do not know how much longer.
