Subject: VA masters?

Does anyone swim with them up north? Where do you swim? I don't know where many of the cities (pools) are that are listed on the website. I live in Arlington, work at Belvoir, am willing to swim in Alexandria or anywhere in the close vacinity.

Help?

Alexandria has a masters program at the Chinquapin rec center on King Street.  They meet M-F 6-7:15 AM, M and W at PM, and F at 6:30 PM.  It is fairly cheap, you buy a pass that comes out to $4 per workout.  Unfortunately, I don't feel like there is a lot of feedback from the coaches.  They normally just write the workout on a white board and do their own workout with everyone else.  I normally just use my pass to get into the pool and do my own workout.  The pool is great.

Ok, that might work. I'd rather some feedback, but if thats the closest place that will work. And its everyday so thats works with my unpredicatble schedule.

They have a masters program at Washington and Lee HS, pretty decent crowd and a few triathletes train there.  W&L is fairly close to 66 at the Fairfax St. Exit

BTW, where did you move to in Arlington?  That's where all the cool kids live...

I'm in Aurora Hills, cornered next to Pentagon City/Row and Crystal City.

Wow, they have a swim almost everyday. I think that club might fit since my schedule is always changing.

Thanks!

Wait, Ernie...are they expensive??

Seriously - yeah, they're expensive. I know a guy who trains with them - he said it's like $80 a month.

Nice area, lots to do there.  I work in that area also.

Are you in the military or do you have a Pentagon badge?  if so the gym here is only 100 bucks for 6 months and they have a nice 25M pool, after work hours it is almost completely empty, on the weekends I am usually the only one in the pool.

I need to amend my previous post concerning the Alexandria masters on King Street.  It comes out to $4 for Alexandria residents.  I think it is a little more expensive, maybe $6 per workout for non-Alexandria residents.  Most of the day the pool has anywhere from 4-8 lanes for open lap swim.  Most of the time I have a lane to myself.  At most I have to share with one other person.
