Subject: No-season Blues Continue, or The Hits Just Keep on Comin'Yeah, I lost this whole season due to my left foot wanting to destroy itself, and then surgery to fix that in July. That is at least on the mend. Last Friday I went for a short run. Wow, did that make me soar. But my foot survived it pretty well. I even ran again on Monday. Monday evening, while coaching my step-daughter's volleyball team, in a moment of bravado and stupidity, I went up for a spike. Well, actually it wasn't going up for the spike that really did anything it was having to come back down. Right on the metatarsal head that was reconstructed. I just about hit the floor. With my whole body. Anyway, I haven't done anything athletic since. I had a follow up with the surgeon this morning. And it came up with good news -- I didn't do any damage to the bones, the impact was just kinda painful (yeah, no kidding). So he cleared me to do whatever didn't actually cause any pain, and I don't go back until January. Just continue with PT... So I had the PT appointment at 4:20 this afternoon. Everything looks good and I'm progressing quite well. Then I have another practice with the volleyball team. I run around the court with them, and then while doing serves so they can practice game-type situations, I grab a ball and walk backwards... And the right calf siezes up. Total melt down. Calf strain. I've done it twice before in the left calf, but this is the first time it's happened in the right. So I'll be out of running for 6 weeks or so for that.
