Subject: Probably a stupid question, but...

Joshua said it was too quiet here today so I thought I would ask a stupid newbie question or two....

 1.  When I was volunteering on the run course for IMMOO, I noticed lots of racers with colored circle or square stickers on them.  They weren't all in the same place - meaning some had tem on their shirts, some on their shorts, some on their backs, some on the front.   I couldn't figure out what they were for.  Anyone?

 2.  I am thinking about getting an indoor bike trainer.  But as a beginner, I don't need anything fancy.  I wold probably use it in front of the TV once my kids are in bed so I need something easy to set up and take down and something quiet.  Any recommendations?

Thanks!!

 Tracy

I have an Ascent Magnetic Trainer that I bought on clearance online a few years ago....does the job for me! Not too loud and it's easy to take on and off.

Now, as for the IMMOO stuff.....I got Nada for ya!

The stickers were more than likely reflective stickers.  Usually they are yellowish.  I've seen orange.  Once it gets to be near dusk and then gets dark, they are to assist you on being seen on the road.  The roads are still in use.  Additionally, if you happen to crash off to the side, someone may by chance see you and report that someone is down.  The cyalume lightsticks are a small fortune for your safety if you are a bottom mopper/bopper.

I've never had a drainer, (whoops) trainer and don't have any recommendations.  I'm sure some of the other Donkeys can provide some insight, otherwise, do a search in the Iron Distance forum and see if someone already posed that questioned and was answered.

I have the cyclops Fluid 2 too. Works great. I have a book called "Trainer workouts in a binder" that comes in handy for training ideas. Also get yourself some DVDs.

I have a Kettler spin bike, set up with aero bars and all. Has computer with cadence, distance, time, and calories (if you can do the conversion from kilojoules?! its German...). I love it, and have sure put the time in on it over the past two years. Saves the rear tire and stress on the bike frame. My road riding really benefits from riding the spin bike year round.
