Master 1292 McKinney, TX | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Howdy all, I'm Andy. This is my 5th year of doing tris. Done pretty much every distance there is, from Sprint to Ironman, duathlon, aquathon, etc. and had a good time at all of them. My goal for the month is 70 miles. I have one tri left for the year, a local sprint. Otherwise I will be using October to basebuild for the White Rock Half-marathon in December. |

Expert 671 | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Hello Team: My name is Cameron. My goal this month is 88 miles which should start building my base for an early spring marathon. I am going to try for a Boston qualifying time so I need a solid base to handle the speed work I want to do this winter. The last time I tried to qualify for Boston I stopped to pee at mile 17 and never got back on pace. Lesson learned---pee yourself and save time hunting for a portapotty. After the marathon, I'll shift my focus back to triathlon where I seem to gravitate to the longer distances (70.3 and 140.6) probably because I can deal with that kind of pain a lot better than the anaerobic effort of a sprint or olympic distance triathlon. Let's have fun! |

Expert 2555 Colorado Springs, Colorado | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Hi Team, I'm Don. I'm 52. I've been running and doing tris since 2001. The tris have been mostly sprints, a few olys, and 1 HIM. I've done 7 marathons and finally this year had my longed awaited BQ. I'm now building for my Boston effort. I'm currently running about 60 miles/week and plan to build to 80-90 by early next year. I race almost every weekend. In September I raced 6 times - 1 half marathon, 1 10K, 2 5Ks, 1 2 miler, and 1 sprint duathlon. I placed in my age group in 4 of the races and all but the 2 miler were either PRs or personal course bests. I'll be doing at least 3 and up to 5 races in October. My goal for the month is 225 miles. I update my log daily, but I may not report in on this thread as often. |

Elite 3494 Renton, Washington | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Hi there. My name is Lynne. I'm originally from Scotland and have lived in the Seattle area with my hubby for the last almost 11 years. This is my 2nd year of tri. I am a big swimmer but recently upped my running as I'm doing my 1st 1/2 half marathon at the end of November. I will be doing 10 hours which is more than triple my normal. Nice to meet everyone here. Let the inspiring begin! |

Pro 4541 A farming town in MN | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Hello I'm Sal, 44, from the Minneapolis area. Been doing tris for 4 seasons now. Did my 1st HIM this year. Goal for the month - 12 hours of running (about 75 miles). Should be about right for a recovery month (I'm running Whistlestop marathon on the 11th). The challenge last month kept me on task (114 miles of running). I'm banking on this challenge keeping me on task thiis month as well. Go Headless Horsemen (and Horsewomen )! |

Regular 102 Tampa, FL | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Hi all, Been doing tri's, all sprints, for about 3 years (horrible at swimming so that's why i haven't gone farther) but love running, did my first marathon last year at 4:09 so am building up to try and break the 4 hour mark this year (december sometime probably). Never ran 100 miles in a month, come very close a few times but always get hurt, sick or plain just don't care, so this should help keep me on pace. Mike |

Master 1356 | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Hey Mike - glad to know if I stay to "only" sprint length tri's I'm not the only one swimming safe Hey Sal! good to team with you again. I recognize a few names from spring challenges too. I'm Cynthia. Last weekend I completed my third tri, first season. I've now decided to train for a 10K, likely on my birthday in 8.5 weeks. I've never run that distance so we'll see how my body and brain do with the increased length. While I need to get my body in tune, I know for me, it's a lot of the mental game holding me back. First run done this morning... in two parts to deliver my DD to preschool. I may run again at noon if the temps are moderate. |

Pro 4507 Simpsonville, SC | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Hiya Horsemen! I'm Pam. I'm 37 (soon to be 38) and mom of two. This is my fourth year of triathlon. I have an international distance race on the 11th which I'm quite excited about because I haven't raced since June (stupid running injury). I am down for 70 miles which I hope to blow away, provided I stay healthy. I am doing IMCDA next year and really, really, really, need to build my running base. Looking forward to a great month of motivation and smack talk Pam |

Extreme Veteran 322 Reston, VA | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Hey everyone! I'm Caitlin, 21 years old, college student. Started training for my first triathlon about 2.5 years ago as a way to get back in shape. I've only done two sprints, but I trained for a half marathon in March in an attempt to improve my running, which is my weakest link. I ended up missing my last two long runs before the race due to illness, but I ran all but the aid stations and came out in one piece, so that was a bit of a personal victory. That said, I spent all summer getting out of shape again, so I just started over from scratch. I'm in for 40 miles for the month, which I should be able to achieve without risking injury. Nice to meet all of you, and glad to see there are a few Scrubs fans here =) |

Hope those travel plans work to your favor My birthday is this month. After my last tri of the season, though. It's a bummer to have to race all year one year older than you really are! |

Champion 16151 Checkin' out the podium girls | Subject: RE: Headless Horsemen Team Thread Hi everyone! Don't think I've met most of you. I'm Dave and a self-professed bike guru. Don't know why I jumped into a run challenge, but it'll do me good. I've just finished my second tri season and already looking at the '09 calendar. I'll do an occasional 5K, but mostly am a cyclist. I'm in for 40; hopefully I'll be able to adjust that upward. I need a push to keep me running. It's the start of cyclocross season, so I'll be busy racing most weekends. Between that, work, our daughter and fitting in swimming twice a week, it should be EASY to find the time to up my run miles! I've crossed this one with a side-bet with my friends. Guilt free Halloween. We're counting calories burned and earning Reese's twin packs (280 cal in atwin pack). This only helps that bet. I'll start with 6 tomorrow as I swam 2miles this morning.
