So I am planning on running a full mary in April of 09. My question is; should i be able to complete a Full Mary with the proper training if I am curently only running 10K's? I am planning on doing the 20 week plan on here (unless someone has a better suggestion). I have heard of a lot of injuries coming from training for these and that is my worry.

Second part: how do you maintain or improve your Tri base while training for a marathon? I am planning on racing in a tri, later on in the year after the marathon and I am worried about losing ground from where i already am in tri training...

All help is welcomed if you can make sense of this rambling...

Thanks
L

How much are you currently running a week (how many times and distances)?

You have plenty of time to build for a marathon and ramp it up slowly so that you avoid potential injuries.

My rule of thumb is 2 - 3 sessions to maintain, 4 or more to improve.  So if you can fit in a few rides and a few swims you will not "lose" what you have already gained for tri training.  With that said, the increased running will only help your tri abilities overall so it should not be so much of a concern.

Right now i am trying to get over training burnout!! I am slowly starting to run etc... again after my first season. I think i got burnout since i went from 0 physical activity to 6 days a week twice a day... But i am giving myself the next 2 months to regain what i may have lost and rebuild my base.
