So is anyone doing this one this weekend?? I believe its an Olympic? Did anyone do this last year and if so how was the route? Toyata on Sunday was going to be my first Olympis but I wrecked and DNF'd so I wanted to try another one before the year was up so technically This will be my first Olympic and I'm debating about signing up last minute. Anybody have any thoughts?? Thanks!

The race is actually not this next weekend.  It's on the 18th.  There are several race reports that have some good information.  You can find the race reports here:

http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/directory/link-detail.asp?linkid=4915

I'll be racing.  Hope to see you there.

I'll be there.

I'm heading down with tribullbutter on Friday who will, in all probability, still be drunk from post-Kona celebrations.

Haha. Where are you guys staying at? I'm debating on whether staying at teh Maricopa or just some Dive off of 35 in San Marcos. I'll be coming in from Dallas Friday night.

I noticed that someone posted the bike course here.  It looks a bit hilly at the beginning, but not that bad.

I still haven't decided if I'll be racing.  If I do, it'll just be for fun.  I'm in good run shape (training for the San Antonio half marathon in November) but my only bike training has been about three 15 mile commuting rides per week.  I haven't swum in a few months and I finally started physical therapy on my shoulder today.  I'll see how I feel this weekend before deciding.

How are you guys getting your packets?  I saw that packet pick up is Thursday @ Jack and Adams and Friday @ the bike platz.

It's a tough bike course but the run course is easy (one steep, small hill).   The bike can be fast but there are some short/medium hills that are fairly steep.

Well, I just signed up, but for the DU3 (bike/run only).  I was going to skip it entirely (I just started physical therapy for a bad shoulder) until I saw this option.

This'll be my "for fun" race since I'm not really bike training (more miles running than cycling?)... Did someone say hills?    But it's close to home and I like the serious-but-laid-back nature of Seidel races, though I almost drowned at my first one (in Canyon Lake....)

Dray, I wont be getting to san marcus until friday night so I emailed Nick and he set me up for race day packet pick up that morning. I emailed him last week but hopefully he could set you up as well if you try him ASAP.

On another note, does anyone know how spectator friendly this srace is? I am bringing some friends and was just wondering? Thanks!!

Thanks for the advice.  As to your question I don't know but I hope someone can answer this because I am bringing my wife daughter and my parents.  I think it should be ok because there will be a double loop on the run so they'll get to see us twice on the run and also on swim-bike transition and bike to run transition.  We'll see soon I guess.  If anyone wants to meet up before or after the race I'll be in a black zoot top & black P.I. tri shorts and I'll be riding a red Felt tri bike.  Good luck!

Should be decent for spectators.  They should have a good view of the entire swim from the dock area, and close view of the transitions.  Two loops on the run makes it better.  My wife (a spectator) strikes up conversations with everybody so nobody will feel lonely!

I will be volunteering for this race.  I'll be at Tri-Sition Area in SA after 4:30 on Friday and then on race day.

If any of your support crew would like to volunteer have them email me and I'll forward to the RD.  [email protected].

Thanks,

K
